Necessary pressure to keep hemostasis in a digit is only 100-130mmHg. Higher pressure than 300mmHg shall never be exceeded due to risk of complications such as nerve damage, digital ischemia and necrosis. At pressures of 500mmHg and higher, nerve damage occurs. Existing methods (as rolled glove finger, silicone bands or penrose drain) give pressures well over 500mmHg and are hence directly inappropriate to use.
